Do the children in your
family know more about
being Jewish than you do?

decline in diamond exports next year.
The decrease in sales to Southeast
Asia have had a negative impact on
the cash flow of the whole diamond
industry because the Asian customers
usually pay in cash.

It's a serious question. Many Jewish children today, even
our preschoolers, know more about Torah, Shabbat, Mitzvot,
and other core Jewish values than their parents, aunts, uncles and
grandparents ever learned in Sunday School and Hebrew School.

Pizza Hut, KFC
Choose Coke

If you want to learn, it's not too late.

Jerusalem (JPFS) — Pizza Hut and
Kentucky Fried Chicken may be
owned by PepsiCo., but as of Jan. 1,
local outlets serve Coca Cola, the
Globes financial daily reported.
A loophole in Pizza Hut's agree-
ment with the local franchiser Shlo-
mo Dahucky means that the compa-
ny, which only sells Pepsi's soft drinks
in its global network of restaurants, is
not mandated to sell any particular
soft drink brand.
The agreement between Dahucky
and Pizza Hut assumed that the com-
pany's local stores would sell Pepsi,
but did not stipulate an exclusive
arrangement.
Pizza Huts local marketing agents
told reporters Coca Cola offered the
franchisee a better deal.
Tempo, Pepsi's local distributor,
would not comment on pricing
arrangements and negotiations with
Pizza Hut.

Hilton Chain
Back In Jerusalem

Jerusal;em (JPFS) — After almost five
years, the Hilton chain is returned to
Jerusalem with the opening of the
Jerusalem Hilton in the Mamilla dis-
trict overlooking David's Citadel and
the Old City.
The 385-room hotel, which is part
of the Mamilla complex, cost $100
million to build. The Hilton chain
ran a hotel at the entrance to
Jerusalem during 1975-1993, but the
management of the hotel was given
over to the Holiday Inn chain after
Hilton signed an agreement to run
the new hotel.
The new complex, which includes
a shopping mall, luxury residences
and two hotels, was built by Elroy.
The company is currently building
a second hotel in the same area, the
City Hilton. The second hotel,
which will have less elaborate facili-
ties, is expected to open in 1999.
