Jerusalem (JPFS) — Pizza Hut and Kentucky Fried Chicken may be owned by PepsiCo., but as of Jan. 1, local outlets serve Coca Cola, the Globes financial daily reported. A loophole in Pizza Hut's agree- ment with the local franchiser Shlo- mo Dahucky means that the compa- ny, which only sells Pepsi's soft drinks in its global network of restaurants, is not mandated to sell any particular soft drink brand. The agreement between Dahucky and Pizza Hut assumed that the com- pany's local stores would sell Pepsi, but did not stipulate an exclusive arrangement. Pizza Huts local marketing agents told reporters Coca Cola offered the franchisee a better deal. Tempo, Pepsi's local distributor, would not comment on pricing arrangements and negotiations with Pizza Hut. The 385-room hotel, which is part of the Mamilla complex, cost $100 million to build. The Hilton chain ran a hotel at the entrance to Jerusalem during 1975-1993, but the management of the hotel was given over to the Holiday Inn chain after Hilton signed an agreement to run the new hotel. The new complex, which includes a shopping mall, luxury residences and two hotels, was built by Elroy. The company is currently building a second hotel in the same area, the City Hilton.
