Celebration

The Congregation Shaarey Zedek
Men's Club will honor Michael
Balkin, past president of the men's
club at Men's Club Shabbat,
Saturday, Jan. 3.
Balkin served as president of
the men's club from 1994-1995. He
has served on the Men's Club
Executive Board and in various
capacities for over 17 years. In addi-
tion, he has served on Shaarey Zedek
Board of Trustees and various com-
mittees of the synagogue. His corn-
munity involvement includes
Michigan State Hillel, Allied Jewish
Campaign, Jewish Theological
Seminar and the Multiple Sclerosis
Society.
Men's club :members will conduct
the services. President Richard
Jacobs will address the congregation.
The Men's Club Choir will partici-
pate. A kiddush luncheon will fol-
low.

N'shei Rosh Chodesh, Women of the
Northern Suburbs, is planning a cele-
bration of Chanukah and Rosh
Chodesh Teves 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec.
30, at the home of Mrs. Renee Levine,
6953 Bristol, West Bloomfield.
There will be refreshments and a talk
on Chanukah. Composer Ruthie
Zimberg from Toronto will present "A
Musical Celebration of Women,
Chanukah, and Rosh Chodesh," which
will include some of her original com-
positions.

Bais Chabad
Offers Classes

Congregation Bais Chabad of
Farmington Hills and Michigan Jewish
Institute will offer a class 8-9:30 p.m.
Tuesdays, at the synagogue, on "Jewish
Laws of Kashrut - The Gateway to the
Laws of Ordination" for college credit;
one does not have to be a college stu-
dent to attend.
A class on Jewish meditation based
on the teachings of Tanya will be
offered 8-9:30 p.m. Wednesdays.
