A Chanukah Party is set for 1-3 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 14, at Congregation
Beth Shalom. The cost is $1. This
program is jointly sponsored by the
city of Oak Park's 50 Up Club and the
Jewish Federation Apartments. The
day offers music by the Ed Pelts Band,
food and gifts.

Community educator Aviva Silverman
will continue the adult Jewish learning
series "Sacred Connections: Finding
the Link Between the Weekly Torah
Portion and Haftorah,” on three con-
secutive Wednesday nights 7:30-9:30
p.m. Dec. 3, 10 and 17, at Hillel Day
School.
All adult learners are welcome.
Knowledge of Hebrew is not required.
The series is part of Eilu v' Eilu, the
cooperative adult Jewish learning pro-
ject co-sponsored by Congregations

School and Women's League for
Conservative Judaism-Michigan
Branch.
Tuition is $10 per session ($8 per
session for members of the sponsoring

Open House
At Day School
The Hebrew Day School (HDS) of
Ann Arbor will hold a kindergarten
open house 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec.
1, at 2937 Birch Hollow Drive, Ann
Arbor, to recruit for the 1998/99 aca-
demic year. The program offers a
developmental program including
hands-on math and science, whole
language phonics, Judaic studies and
an introduction to Hebrew.

B'nai Moshe
Gift Bazaar
Congregation B'nai Moshe will hold
its second annual holiday gift bazaar
11 a.m.- 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23.
There will be booths featuring a vari-
ety of items for sale; there will also be
a children's art area and food available
for purchase.
Rabbi Discusses
Parenting
Those with an interest in the spiritual
well-being of today's Jewish youth are
invited to an adults-only discussion
with guest facilitator Rabbi Ira F.
Stone 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at
Congregation B'nai Moshe.
Books and other resources for
Jewish parents will be displayed. A
light dessert buffet will be served, with
the program following at 8:30 p.m.
The event is free and open to the
community; no reservations are

Volunteers
On Christmas
Individuals, families, children and
grandparents are invited to comfort
the elderly, fix up a shelter, serve food
to the hungry or perform other tasks
at the annual Volunteer Extravaganza,
Thursday Dec. 25.
Starting from the Max M. Fisher
building, groups will head out to
agencies and institutions around the
metro area to lend a hand or to relieve
workers who wish to spend the holi-
day with their families.
Chairing the event are Lisa Barson,
Jeff Basch and Randi Sakwa.
