The 1997 Washtenaw County JCC
Jewish Book Fair will open the
evening of Saturday, Dec. 6 and run
all day Sunday, Dec. 7.
Keynote speaker will be Martin A.
Lee 8 p.m. Saturday evening, who will
tell the tale from his book Th e - Beast
Reawakens.
Trains will be discussed by Jackson
author Miriam Winter 10 a.m.
Sunday, Dec. 7, at the JCC.
Louis Brandeis Slept Here: A Slightly
Cynical History of American Jews will
be discussed by author David Gleicher
1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. This book is a
tongue-in-cheek anecdotal history of
Jews in America from 1654 to the pre-
sent.
When Boxing Was A Jewish Sport
will be discussed by author Allen
Bodner 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. This
book interviews former boxers, train-
ers, managers, promoters and boxing
judges, and draws on much of
Bodner's own personal experience in
New York City's fighting arena.
All authors will hold book signings
following their lectures.
Pre-school director Noreen
DeYoung will read stories to pre-
school age children from 1-2 p.m.
Shirley Norton, Beth Israel librarian,
will entertain older children from 2-3
p.m.
The JCC Book Fair is free and
open to the public.

campuses throughout the Metro
Detroit area.
At Wayne State University, HMD
is open Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. -
4:30 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. -2:30
p.m. HMD provides a place for stu-
dents to study, hang out, watch TV
and socialize in room 667 of the
Student Center Building.
At Oakland University, the Jewish
Students Organization/Hillel has
office hours on Wednesday 10 a.m. -1
p.m. in room 19, Oakland Center.
