Improvement," 7:30 p.m. Tuesday,

Toledo JCC
Family Carnival
The Jewish Community Center of
Toledo will host a community Fall
into Fun Family Carnival, noon - 4
p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at the JCC,
6465 Sylvania Avenue in Sylvania.
The carnival will be presented in
the JCC gymnasium as well as out-
doors. Proceeds from the carnival will
be used to purchase equipment and
assist in scholarships for needy fami-
lies in the area. Admission is free.
Food and game tickets are available
in advance, 5 for $1 or 4 for $1 at the

Function Set

The morning will include a tour of
the Jewish Center and an opportuni-
ty to meet women new to the com-
munity. Refreshments will be served,
and dietary laws will be observed.

Judicial Seminar
Hosts Discussion
The Detroit Judicial Seminar will
next meet 12:15 p.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 29, in the Riverside Conference
Room 700A. The topic, led by Rabbi
Herschel Finman, will be "Oklahoma
vs. Edward Allen, the Dunham Rule
and Jewish Law." Cost for the lunch is

The lunches are open to all mem-
bers of the Jewish community. No
prior knowledge of Talmud is required.
Jewish Historian
Discusses Israel
The Birmingham Temple will pre-
sent Yehuda Bauer, Jewish historian,
who will discuss "Israel: War and
Peace" 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at
the temple. Member cost, $4, non-
member cost, $6.
Yehuda Bauer served for many years
as a professor at the Hebrew
University in Jerusalem. He organized
both the Institute for the Study of
Contemporary History and the Center
for the Study of Anti-Semitism. He is
the author of many books, including
Jews For Sale.

and director of Jewish Federation's
Michigan/Israel Connection, will be
Tikvah's guest speaker 11:30 a.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Michele Kleiman's
home.
Mrs. Waxman will discuss "From
Mt. Scopus to Detroit, a woman from
Israel who is now connected to Metro
Detroit."

Gives Talk
Mark Silverman, the new publisher
of the Detroit News, will address
American Arabic and Jewish Friends at
the Southfield Civic Center, Room
115, 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28. The
presentation will be on "How Can A
Newspaper Be Fair To All Readers."
Mr. Silverman will respond to ques-
tions from the audience.
The program is open to the public
and there is no admission charge.
