HAROLD D. GALES, 75, of Detroit,
died Sept. 15. Mr. Gales was a ply-
wood importer and wholesaler of ply-
wood and owner of Gales
International. He was a founder and
past president of the Congress of
Secular Jewish Organizations, a past
president of the Detroit Chapter of
the American Jewish Committee, a
member of the American Arbitration
Association, board member of the
Arab-Jewish Friends and a past presi-
dent of Jewish Parents Institute. He
also was a board member of Cohn-
Haddow, past board member of the
International Institute for Secular
Humanistic Judaism and a co-chair of
the International Federation of Secular
Humanistic Jews, North American
Section.
Mr. Gales is survived by his wife,
Harriet Gales; sons and daughter-in-
law, David and Melinda Gales of
Nashville, Joel Gales of Washington,
D.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Julie
Gales and Laurence Kirchmeier of
Ann Arbor; sister and brother-in-law,
Vivian and Edward Koblin of
Huntington Woods. Interment at
Machpelah Cemetery. Contributions
may be made to the Harold D. Gales
Endowment at Cohn-Haddow Center
for Judaic Studies, Wayne State
University, 442 Manoogian, Detroit,
MI 48202. Arrangements by the Ira
Kaufman Chapel.

ANN GOODMAN, 75, of
Farmington Hills, died Sept. 14.
She is survived by her husband,
Harry; brothers and sisters-in-law,
Herbert and Helen Casselman of
Redford, Jack and Lillian Cole of
Farmington Hills; sister, Evelyn
Costello of Farmington Hills.
