Parlor Meeting

Yad Ezra, the kosher food pantry,
will begin its f211 fund-raising sea-
son with a parlor reception hon-

Akedah Series
At Borders

Rabbi Aaron Bergman will lead
a four-part pre-High Holiday
study series for adult learners 10-
11 a.m. Mondays at Borders
Books and Music in Farmington
Hills, starting Monday, Sept. 8.
There is a charge.
The subject will be 'The Bind-
ing of Memory: An In-Depth Look
at the Binding of Isaac." This adult
Jewish learning project is co-spon-
sored by Congregation B'nai
Moshe, Congregation Beth Abra-
ham Hillel Moses, Congregation
Beth Shalom, Hillel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit and
Women's League for Conservative
Judaism-Michigan Branch.
Tuition for this series is $20 for
members of the sponsoring or-
ganizations and $28 for others.

JARC Hosts
Parents Event

Parents of children and young
adults with special needs will
have an opportunity to share con-
cerns and experiences at a coffee
and conversation event 10-11:30

a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the
home of Chana Greenes.
The series is sponsored by the
JARC Keshet Family Support
Program, which provides out-
reach, networking, education, so-
cial programming and advocacy
on behalf of parents who have
children of any age with any dis-
ability.

Mosque Hosts
Interfaith Event

The Islamic House of Wisdom in
Dearborn Heights Will be the set-
ting for the second Partners in
Service Interfaith Volunteer Di-
alogue 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23.
The program will offer partic-
ipants the opportunity to learn
about Islam, discuss their inter-
faith volunteer experiences and
enlist for future Partner In Ser-
vice volunteer projects. Jewish
Community Council Executive
Director David Gad-Harf serves
on the Partners in Service board
and also serves as its program
committee chair.

JPI Begins
Sunday School

The Jewish Parents Institute will
begin its 50th year of Sunday
school on Sunday, Sept. 7. Open
registration will take place at 10
a.m. in Room 150 at the Jewish
Community Center Maple-Drake
building.
Classes are held from 10 a.m.
to 12:15 p.m. on Sundays for chil-
dren in nursery through 8th
grade at the Maple-Drake JCC.
Refreshments will be served.

Temple Hosts
Fund-Raiser

Temple Kol Ami will holds its an-
nual golf outing fund-raiser 11
a.m.-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23,
at Bay Pointe Golf Club in West
Bloomfield. Participation is open
to the public.
Players can sign up individu-
ally or as a foursome. The basic
fee of $150 per person covers 18
holes of golf, a golf cart, prizes
and giveaways, a tournament gift
bag, open bar, lunch and dinner.
There will be a shotgun start
and a scramble format for the
golfing. Sponsorship options are
available, and there is also an op-
tion for non-players to attend.
All proceeds support Temple
Kol Ami's education, social, and
community programs for children
