powder in blender. Whirl to
blend. Pour into a glass. Sprin-
kle coffee granules on top. Serve
with a spoon and a straw. Makes
1 serving.
STRAWBERRY SWIRL
(DAIRY)
3/4 cup apple juice
1 cup sliced strawberries
1 cup strawberry ice cream
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream,
softened
large strawberry for garnish
(optional)
In blender, place apple juice and
strawberries. Whirl at high for
10 seconds to puree berries. Add
strawberry ice cream and process
10 seconds longer to blend. Pour
into a tall glass. Stir in softened
vanilla ice cream.
To garnish: Make a slit in the
strawberry and wedge on the
edge of the glass. Serve with a
spoon and a straw. Serves 1.

8 ounces skim milk
6 large strawberries, cleaned and
hulled
1 packet low-calorie sweetener
spring of mint, to serve (optional)

Cut strawberries into small
pieces. Combine all ingredients
in a tall container and, for best
results, use a hand blender. (Oth-
erwise, a regular blender will do
just fine.) Blend at the highest
speed for about 10 seconds, then
for about 15 seconds more at
medium speed.
The drink should be frothy and
strawberries should be complete-
ly blended with the milk. Pour into
a tall glass, garnish with a sprig
of mint, and enjoy! Serves 1.
Alternative recipe: If you pre-
fer, this drink works great with
bananas, too. Just substitute one
medium banana (cut into slices)
for the strawberries.
