KAATZ, 81, formerly of Hunt-
ington Woods of Sarasota, Fla.,
died July 17.
She is survived by her hus-
band, Bertram H. Kaatz; son,
Leon of Hartford, Conn.;
daughters and sons-in-law,
Joan and Robert Beaubaire of
Deerfield, Ill., Marjorie and
Joseph Picone of Lafayette Hill,
Pa.; five grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren. Services
were held at the Tishman Fu-
neral Home in Sarasota. Inter-
ment at Palms Memorial Park

ALBERT KAPLAN, 86, for-
mer Detroiter of Tamarac, Fla.,
died July 4.
He is survived by his wife,

Eileen of Bronxville, N.Y., Dan-

LILLIAN MALTZER, 80, of
Longboat Key, Fla., formerly of
Detroit, died July 21. Mrs.
Maltzer was a registered nurse.
She was a founding member of
the Temple Emanu-El Sister-
hood and was, as president of
Temple Emanu-El, the first fe-
male president of a congrega-
tion in Michigan. She was twice
a president of the National Fed-
eration of Temple Sisterhoods
and a past president of Temple

Beth Israel in Longboat Key.
She also was a board member
of the Union of American He-
brew Congregations, serving as
a vice president and in other ca-
pacities.
Within Reform Judaism,
Mrs. Maltzer was a chairperson
for the commission on aging,
had a longterm commitment to
UAHC Youth Camping and to
the North American Federation
of Temple Youth. She acted as
a volunteer nurse for MSTY
conclaves. In addition, Mrs.
Maltzer served on the Council
of Presidents, a group from ma-
jor Jewish organizations which
advised president Carter on
matters of concern to American
Jews.
Mrs. Maltzer is survived by
her husband of 60 years, Dr.
Joseph H. Maltzer; daughters
and son-in-law, Janice and
George Erdstein of Huntington
Woods, Karen Davidoff of Is-
rael; son and daughter-in-law,
Dr. Mark and Dale Maltzer of
California; grandchildren, Bri-
an and Karene Erdstein,
Rachel Erdstein, Elana Erd-
stein, Eric Maltzer, Josh
Maltzer, Shira Davidoff, Tzvi
Davidoff, Noam Davidoff; great-
grandchild, Ma'ayan Erdstein.

FAYE MEYERS, 72, of South-
field, died July 15. Mrs. Meyers
was in sewing-machine sales-.

Gorman; sister-in-law, Loretta
Orzuch. Mrs. Meyers was the
beloved wife of the late Irving
Meyers and the dear sister of
the late Bernard Orzuch.

MAX NOSANCHUK, 88, of
