The Friends of Na'amat/Tevye
Sallen Chapter held its annual
election of officers to serve during
the 1997-98 year.
President is Norman Berger;
vice president Seymour Milgrom;
treasurer Bob Kannon; and sec-
retary Jack Tendler.
The men's group was estab-
lished to support day care centers
in Israel. Among the fund-raisers
coming soon is the annual fami-
ly and guest picnic and barbecue,
to be held in Heritage Park in
Farmington Hills on Wednesday,
July 30.

The Jimmy Prentis Morris Jew-
ish Community Center in Oak
Park will host the Oak Park Vin-
tage Players on Monday, June 9,
and Tuesday, June 10, for a spe-
cial performance of What A Ball!
The lighthearted play, written and
directed by Fran Aaron and Jack-
ie Klein, is about a senior volley-
ball team.
Tickets may be purchased at
the Jewish Community Center re-
ception desk for $7.
JPM will host "The Doctor Is
In," a weekly health screening that
is available on Thursdays from 1-
3 p.m. Dr. Aubrey Goldman and
Shirley Kramer, R.N., in cooper-
ation with Sinai Hospital, offer
blood pressure and fasting blood
sugar testing at no charge.
Wednesday afternoon socials
are held at 1 p.m. each week. Lo-
cal entertainers sing a variety of
songs, including in Yiddish.

Mrs. Berg is director of edu-
cation for Temple Kol Ami. Pre-
viously, she taught English at
West Bloomfield High School
and at Beth Jacob Girls' School.
She also taught drama at Hillel
Day School.
Mr. Schechter serves on the
Shaarey Zedek board and the
endowment board. Mrs.
Schechter is a member of the
synagogue's sisterhood and has
been a volunteer for the
Women's World Committee.
Both are active with the Jewish
Federation and the Allied Jew-
ish Campaign. Currently Mrs.
Schechter is co-chairperson for
Days of Decision. She is involved
with Yad Ezra, National Coun-
cil of Jewish Women and Israel
Bonds. Mr. Schechter has been
a board member of the Jewish
Federation Apartments for the
past 10 years.

Rabbi David Wolpe will be the
speaker at the June 23 gala of
the Jewish Theological Semi-
nary. The annual event, to be
held at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek, raises scholarship funds
for seminary students studying
to become rabbis, cantors and
Jewish educators.
Rabbi Wolpe teaches at the
seminary, where he also serves as
assistant to the chancellor. Rabbi
Wolpe is a frequent television

This Morning" and CNN as a com-
