NIt'a
he AZA basketball league completed its B'nai B'rith
Youth Organization season on Sunday with three
exciting games at the Maple-Drake Jewish Communi-
ty Center.
Greenberg AZA scored the only four points of the over-
time period to defeat Chalutzim AZA 30-26 in one semi-
Lai final game.
At the same time, Sammy AZA beat Jolson AZA 48-
36 in the other semi-final.
Because of scheduling difficulties, Sammy and Greenberg
had to play immediately for the championship.
Greenberg took a 25-19 lead in the first half, despite Todd
Weiner scoring 14 of Sammy's 19 points. In the see-saw sec-
ond half, Sammy tied the game at the half-way point, and then
pulled ahead with six minutes to go. With three minutes left,
Greenberg knotted the score at 38. In the end, Sammy pulled
out a 43-40 victory.
Some 175 boys participated in the B'nai B'rith Youth Or-
ganization League this year, which was coordinated by
Joanathan Weinberg of Jolson AZA.
Members of the winning Sammy team are Adam Babcock,
Noah Babcock, Matt Cohn, Adam Gotleib, Neal Hather, David
Strauss, Richie Wallace and Todd Weiner.
