Temple Kol Ami
Adult Education

Three new adult education
courses will be offered Monday
evenings at Temple Kol Ami.
The True Story of Esther,
taught by Temple Kol Ami Di-
rector of Education Elissa Berg,
will prepare students for the hol-
iday of Purim. This course will
be offered 8:30-9:30 p.m. Mon-
days, Feb. 24-March 17.
Comparative American-Jew-
ish Law will be taught 7:30-8:30
p.m. Monday nights during the
month of March by Rabbi Mar-
la J. Feldman, the assistant di-
rector of domestic concerns of the
Jewish Community Council of
Metropolitan Detroit.
Reform Judaism and the End
of Days will explore traditional
and liberal interpretations re-
garding the Messiah taught by
Rabbi Amy B. Brodsky. It will
be offered 8:30 p.m. Mondays,
March 24 and 31. The courses
are open to members of the com-
munity.

present in February a two-part
program dealing with Detroit
and Israel. The first segment is
on the new Irving and Beverly
Laker Educational Center. Irv-
ing Laker is interviewed by Geri
Levit, producer and host of the
show.
The second part features
three members of the Young
Adult Division of the Jewish
Federation, who were in Israel
for Partnership 2000. They dis-
cuss the integration of Ethiopi-
an Jews into Israel society.

Plans Classes

Temple Emanu-El's Introduction
to Judaism course will begin 6:45-
8:15 p.m. Thursday, March 13. In-
structors include Rabbi Joseph
Gutmann, Cantor Norman Rose,
Marcia Leibson and Jane Hauser.
In addition, Beginning Hebrew
will be taught by Nitzana York

8:15-9:15 p.m. Thursdays. There
is a fee for both classes.

Plans Honors

PTACH - Parents for Torah for
All Children, Michigan Chapter,
will hold its 16th annual dinner
Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Plaza
Hotel in Southfield. PTACH will
honor Mr. and Mrs. Max (Mick-
ey) Stern of Moss and Associ-
ates, who have exhibited
dedication to assisting in the
plight of the learning disabled
as well as the general educa-
tional needs of children in the
community.

be the guest speaker.

Anthropologist
Gives Talk

Dr. Barry Bogin, professor of an-
thropology in the Behavioral Sci-
ences Department at the
University of Michigan-Dear-
born, will speak to the Work-
men's Circle/Arbeter Ring 7:30
p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22.
Dr. Bogin worked on the Birth
to Ten Study, the first long-term
study of South African black
children from Johannesburg and
Soweto.
His topic will be "The Search
for Peace in Guatemala and
South Africa."
