Help yourself:

• Ask for help. Never hesitate

to ask for an escort if you feel the
least bit uncomfortable about
walking to your car alone. Many
shopping centers employ uni-
formed professionals whom they
have hired to assist with problems
either in the center or the park-
ing area All you have to do is ask
• Travel light. Take advantage
of shopping center lockers, as well
as package- and coat-checking
services. It's less tiring and you're
much more likely to come home
with everything you've bought.

Shoppers' Dream
At Baronette

Bargain hunters and shop-aholics
will find a shopping dream, cour-
tesy of Hotel Baronette's Holiday
Shopping Package. Shoppers
loaded with gifts from nearby
Twelve Oaks Mall can return to
the Baronette to relax and be
pampered while the hotel staff
wraps the day's treasures.
Begin the day with a power
shopper's breakfast from 7:30 -
9:30 a.m.; return for complimen-
tary cocktails, 5-7 p.m. While the
staff wraps the gifts, shoppers can
relax in the indoor pool, soak and
steam in the whirlpool or sauna,
or pump up in the fitness center.
The Holiday Shopping Pack-
age starts at $79 per night and is
available through Dec. 24. For in-
formation, call Marcy Hayes,
(810) 557-2520; or Carla Penz-
abene, (810) 349-7800.

Slam Dunk
For Neurology

The fourth annual "Shoot for a
Cure" event helped Henry Ford's
Hospital Department of Neurol-
ogy and Detroit Pistons score big
points in the fight against neuro-
logical diseases.
Preliminary figures indicate
the event grossed $190,000, and
the Pistons earned their first vic-
tory of the pre-season by beating
the Los Angeles Clippers at the
Palace.
Proceeds will benefit the Hen-
ry Ford Will Robinson Neuro-
surgery Fund, which supports
research and treatment of brain
tumors, stroke, epilepsy, head in-
jury and spinal disorders.
More than 350 people attend-
ed the VIP event, which featured
pre- and post-game parties and
live and silent auctions.
