its kick off convention in Cleve-
land. The cost is $79, including
transportation.
The Culture Club meets 11:30
a.m. every Tuesday at Southfield-
Lathrup in room B209; every oth-
er Wednesday at noon for Berkley
in the Career Resource Center.
Basketball and learning meet

The new after-school club at the
Maple-Drake Jewish Communi-
ty Center is expanding its enroll-
ment to offer programming
opportunities for additional chil-
dren this winter.
Offered Monday through Fri-
day to elementary school children,
the club is unique in its offering
of door-to-door transportation
from school to the JCC. Once at
the center, children receive a
snack and begin a range of su-
pervised activities, including
rollerblading, swimming, nature
hikes, homework assistance, ten-
nis, art.
Children who enroll in after
school enrichment classes at the
center may also join the club and
receive transportation and escort
service to and from their class plus
a discount on class registration.

Habonim Dror
Chanukah

Over 60 members and newcom-
ers of Habonim Dror will attend
the Shabbaton 6 p.m. Friday, Nov.
22, at Ann Arbor Hillel. The pro-
gram was created by young lead-
ers Paula Anne Newman of

Jerusalem's Old City will be recre-
ated when NADIV holds its "Back
to Ben Yehuda" street fair 1 p.m.
Sunday Dec. 8, at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek-B'nai Israel Cen-
ter.
NADIV is a volunteer group of
teens and young adults who have
had an Israel experience and want
to become involved in the Jewish
community.
- Booths at the street fair will be
staffed by alumni of the Miracle
Mission for Teens, singles mis-
sions, Project Otzma and Project
Discovery. Also participating are
United Synagogue Youth, B'nai
B'rith Youth Organization,
Agency for Jewish Education and
the youth groups of Temple Israel
and Temple Shir Shalom.
Music and food will round out
the day. Youth groups, teens and
young adults who have partici-
pated in or are registered for an
Israel experience are eligible to at-
tend.

Jewish Values
Essay Contest

Applications are now available for
the League of Jewish Women's
Organization's 52nd annual
Youth Awards. To qualify for the
annual award of $500, applicants
must be a high school senior with
at least a 3.0 grade point average,
have a formal Jewish education
and be actively involved in the
community. Applicants must also
submit a one page typed essay on
the topic "Is There a Place in Gov-
ernment for Jewish Values?"
Their response should consider
the issue both from the American
and Jewish perspective.
Qualified applicants will also
be interviewed by a panel of
judges. Winners will be recognized
at an awards ceremony 3 p.m.
Sunday, May 4, at Temple Beth
El.
Applications and essays must
be received no later than Jan. 10,
