Have You had Bid Daddy's Tommy Salad Yet?
Or Our Fabulous Lamb Chops?

Welcome to the best Greek food this

Raymond will team up with
Tom Brandel to open the Pacific
Grille in the lower sector of Tom's
Oyster Bar on Franklin Road at
Northwestern Highway.
It will be a combination of s11
the good things the Asian Pacific
Coast (and other coastal regions)
has to offer ... plus some of Ray-
mond's favorites when he had
Wong's Eatery.
Opening is scheduled for this
July.
523 ATTENDEES had a rip-
roarin' time at the recent 50th
reunion by Central High class of
`46, reports Helen Medwed
Quite a scene when the Central
High Marching Band strolled in
unison into the ballroom during
dinner at the Hyatt-Regency
Hotel.
The sound of more than 500
people, some coming from as
far away as Hawaii to attend,
singing the school song of their
alma mater brought tears to the
eyes of many, both men and
women, says Helen.
13TH ANNIVERSARY of the
popular Gallery restaurant,
owned by Stefan Becharas in the
Bloomfield Plaza, Telegraph and
Maple, was June 16.
Entrance is in the rear with
plenty of parking for the multi-

tude of loyal followers who have
made the Gallery their favorite
since its former years on 10 Mile
and Evergreen.
Like the days past, people still
look for wee spots on Stefan's
many mirrors so they can tease
him ... But as before, they are
very seldom found.
His food is fresh, like the ex-
tremely popular tuna in toasted
pita, the service polite and effi-
cient, and such a pleasure to eat
in the very clean atmosphere ...
both kitchen and dining sectors.
ANOTHER FINE evening as
the Brotherhood of Temple Beth
El recently held its 77th instal-
lation of officers.
The short, concise program
was appreciated by a goodly
crowd that almost reached ca-
pacity.
Catering by Temple Beth El's
Excellence Too, with Paul Wertz
in front and partner/chef Jim
Leonard preparing the goodies,
was again far above par ... The
excellent waitstaff served straw-
berry soup in long-stemmed
glasses, chicken marsala and
frozen lemon mousse ... all deli-
cious selections.
Izzy Malin will be installed for
the second time as president of
the Beth Elders ... Wife Fran was
also itspresident two terms ...
Elaine and Mark Schonberger
will be installed the end of this

month as co-presidents of Tem-
ple Beth El's Married Group ...
Rabbi Julian Cook and wife Suzie
say goodbye to a lot of friends
when they leave July 13 ... Dr.
Richard C. Hertz did his usual
good job as installing officer.
Our table was full of pride for
a grand old Temple Beth El
which has withstood the years of
time and gotten better ... Izzy and
Fran Malin, Mamie Tichton, Dr.
Richard and Renda Hertz, Jim
Wilkus, Milton and Betty Jansky
and Rabbi Julian and Suzie "Cook.
Number 77 and they get bet-
ter every year.
BEING A FINE dining res-
taurant doesn't mean that a place
like Excslibur, Franklin at North-
western, can't have an excellent
turkeyburger In fact,
owner/chef Marty Wilk has prob-
ably one of the best turkeyburg-
ers around.
FROM THE NOTES of re-
porter Lois Glick ... Not enough
rabbis in Petoskey, so one from
Grand Rapids had to be brought
in for the recent marriage of Joel
Yashinsky and Kristy Starr.
It was Rabbi David Krishefs
first wedding officiating, and his
cantor wife, Marissa, came along
with their family-to-be ... She is
carrying triplets for an expected
fs11 delivery.
About 100 out-of-town guests
attended Joel and Kristy's mid-
dle-aisle session in the garden of
Petoskey's Bayview Inn over-
looking Lake Michigan.
After the ceremony, the new-
lyweds left in a horse-drawn car-
riage and their guests hopped a
trolley for the Perry Hotel recep-
tion.
SECOND ANNUAL Culi-
nary Classic, June 22, at Oakland
Community College's Orchard
Ridge Campus, Orchard Lake
Road and 1-696, will have 16 sem-
inars by culinary experts, plus
tastings from over 25 metro De-
troit restaurants, a silent auction
and live entertainment.
Guests will also be able to taste
the wines which took prizes in the
first Great Lakes Regional Wine
Competition held June 6.
$50 admission will benefit
OCC's Culinary Program and the
Chuck Muer Culinary Resource
Library for students and the
public.
NICE TO SEE the fine moth-
er-and-son team at Cafe Cortina,
as Rina and Adrian Tonon car-
ry on the tradition of wonderful
Italian dining.
If there were such an award as
best host, Adrian, with his smile,
graciousness and passion for the
restaurant business, would be a
prime candidate.
He has made mother Rina
very proud ... Too bad that his
late dad, Adriano, isn't here to
also see what the wonderful
young man is accomplishing.
CONGRATS ... to Percy and
Sarah Kaplan ... on their 53rd an-
niversary. El

side of Greektown.. leaturing wonderful Greek Favorites.
