Horodoker
Plans Tour

The David Horodoker Organi-
zation will sponsor a bus tour of
historic Jewish Detroit on Sun-
day, June 23.
The tour is being conducted by
the Jewish Historical Society of
Michigan. Participants will meet
at the Jewish Community Cen-
ter in Oak Park; the bus will de-
part at 12:30 p.m. and return at
4:30 p.m.
There is a charge for this

Nomination are still being ac-
cepted for the ninth annual
Berman Award for Outstanding
Professional Service for a Jew-
ish communal professional em-
ployed by the Jewish Federation
or one of its agencies.
Nominees for the Berman
Award must have worked in
the Detroit Jewish community
a minimum of five years. They
must have demonstrated the
highest professional standards
in their chosen field, made a
contribution to the general
good of the Jewish community
and displayed leadership
and innovation in their profes-
sion.
Nominations may be submit-

remain confidential, and they
may be renominated in subse-

Build Homes

The Volunteer Network will
join Habitat for Humanity to
build homes in neighborhoods
throughout the Detroit area Sun-
day, June 30, from 8 a.m. to 3
p.m.
Volunteers will meet at the
Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish
Community Center and carpool
to the sites. Participants should
bring protective eyewear (sun-
glasses are acceptable) and a
brown-bag lunch. Only persons
age 16 and over are eligible to
participate.
Registration deadline is June
19. Space is limited. To register,

Kaufman Chapel, Hebrew Memorial Chapel and Alan Dorfman Funeral
Direction. Families whose funeral has been handled by one of these homes
should not contact the paper to place an obituary.

Those wishing to notify the community of out-of-town deaths with a Detroit
connection, must send in or fax a typed double-spaced notice.
