Springhouse Assisted Living

She's an independent woman. But if she's going
to live her own life, she'll need a little assistance now
and then.
If you or someone you love is looking for a warm,
caring environment where independence is respect-
ed and a helping hand is always nearby, we can help.
Introducing Springhouse Assisted Living, now
open in Southfield.
We have a highly qualified staff to provide assis-
tance when it's needed, as well as features like an ice
cream parlor, formal dining room, country kitchen
and outdoor terrace to share with visiting family and
friends.

with each resident to help them get the most out of

Rabbi Lau is sharply critical.

Council candidates would not be
disqualified on the basis of their
outlook). The City Council final-
ly took another vote — and dis-
qualified them anyway.
One proposal for breaking the
long deadlock (the Religious
Councils of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv,
and Haifa have not changed for
12 years) is to disband the coun-
cils altogether and have their ser-
vices dispensed by departments
of the local and municipal gov-
ernments.
This approach is forwarded by
Knesset Member Avraham
Ravitz of the Orthodox Torah
Flag Faction and of Jerusalem
Deputy Mayor Chaim Miller of
the Orthodox Agudat Yisrael Par-
ty. In arguing that the High
Court has "crossed another red
line" by placing itself above an
elected authority (the City Coun-
cil) and appointing members of a
Religious Council by itself, Mr.
Ravitz complained that "this is
much more than judicial ac-
tivism."
Yet, observers believe that the
Orthodox parties are unlikely to
back Mr. Ravitz's idea, if only be-
cause it would deprive them of
highly coveted "political patron-
age" jobs (which pay salaries of
up to $50,000 a year) to mete out
to followers.
Another, more far-reaching
means of dealing with the issue
has been proposed by Knesset
Member Shlomo Benizri of the

life. For more information, call us at (810) 358-0088.
