Poets Enid Dame, Helen Wein-
garten and Detroiter Elizabeth
Socolow will read their poetry
Sunday, Nov. 19, at Unitarian-
Universalist Church of Grosse
Pointe, 17150 Maumee. The 2-4
program, sponsored by Congre-
gation T'chiyah, the Recon-
structionist synagogue of Detroit,
will be the first local appearance
for Ms. Dame.
Ms. Dame, who has appeared
in many public and radio perfor-
mances, is best known for her book
of poems about Lilith. The adjunct
lecturer in English at Rutgers Uni-
versity and co-editor and publish-
er of the literary tabloid Home
Planet News focused on Midrashic
work and is moving onto the na-
tional poetry scene.
Ms. Weingarten, who will give
a debut reading of her poetry on
Jewish subjects , has taught con-
flict management Jerusalem's He-
brew University and recently
facilitated dialogue groups for Jew-
ish and Arab women in Michigan
and at Harvard University. Ms.
Socolow, a member of Congrega-
tion T'chiyah, will introduce the
program and read from her work.
She was awarded the 1987
Barnard Women Poets Series
Prize. She is an adjunct lecturer at
U of M-Dearborn, Lawrence Tech-
nological University and Wayne
State University.
Light refreshments will be
served at the readings, which are
being hosted in cooperation with
the Grosse pointe Jewish Coun-
cil. The Unitarian-Universalists
Church of Grosse pointe is locat-
ed at 17150 Maumee, one block
east of Kercheval near Cadieux.

The Workmen's Circle/Arbeter
Ring will hold its Annual Gala
