Federation
Receives Award

New York,—The Jewish Feder-
ation of the Berkshires and the
Jewish Federation of Metropol-
itan Detroit have been named re-
cipients of the third Avi
Chai/CJF Award for "Innovation
and Excellence in the Commu-
nity Initiatives to Strengthen
Jewish Commitment."
The award was created
through a partnership of Avi
Chai, a New York-based private
foundation which operates in the
United States and Israel, and
CJF to stimulate initiatives in
the Federation system which
strengthen Jewish commitment
and can be emulated by other
communities.
This year's recipients, who will
share a $36,000 grant from Avi
Chai, will be honored and their
programs highlighted at the CJF
General Assembly in boston.

National Council of Jewish
Women/Greater Detroit Section,

Schwartz, grandparenting spe-
cialist from the Merrill Palmer
Institute of Wayne State Uni-
versity, will speak on Wednes-
day, Nov. 15, 1-2: p.m. at the
