Studies Class

The Ecumenical Institute for
Jewish-Christian Studies will
again offer its class, "Jesus With-
in the Judaisms of His Time,"
taught by executive director and
founder of the Ecumenical In-
stitute, Rev. James R. Lyons.
The tree-week class will be
held on Monday evenings, Oct
30, Nov. 6, and Nov. 13, from 7
to 9 p.m. Open to the public, the
class is being hosted by Temple
Emanu-El in Oak Park and is co-
sponsored by First Congrega-
tional Church of Royal Oak.
There is no charge for this class.

Rabbi Leads
Torah Study

Rabbi William Gershon of Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek will teach
at the weekly Torah and lunch pro-
gram Thursday, Oct. 12, at the
Max Fisher Building. Sponsored
by the Conservative Movement of
Metro Detroit, Torah study is held
from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with lunch
available starting at noon. There
is a charge for lunch and reserva-
tions are requested. Telphone the
Jewish Theological Seminary of-
fice, 258-0055, for information or
reservations.
Rabbi Gershon will speak on
the holiday of Sukkot and the sig-
nificance of the harvest holiday
for contemporary Jews. Torah
study and lunch is jointly spon-
sored by the Detroit Friends of the
Jewish Theological Seminary, the
Rabbinical Assembly and the
United Synagogue for Conserva-
tive Judaism, Michigan Region.

Sets Hours

The Teacher's Resource Center
at the Agency for Jewish Edu-
cation has new hours. The cen-
ter is now open Mondays 9:30
a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m.;
Tuesdays 5 to 8 p.m.; Wednes-
days 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thurs-
days 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. On
Fridays, the center will be closed.
Patrons of the Resource Cen-
ter may borrow a variety of
teaching materials including
books, videos, audio tapes,
games, posters, maps, lesson
plans, workbooks,' craft ideas,
button making supplies. Lami-
nating also is available by ap-
pointment. The Resource Center
is located at the Agency for Jew-
ish Education, 21550 W. Twelve
Mile Road, Southfield.
