The Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion Library has new hours for
the fall/winter. The library is now
open Sundays 9:30 a.m. to 12:30
p.m.; Mondays 9:30 a.m. to 12:30
p.m.; Tuesdays 5 to 8 p.m.;
Thursdays 9:30 a.m. to 12:30
p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. The library
will be closed on Thursday, Fri-
day and Saturday. Volunteers
are needed in order to expand li-
brary hours.
In addition to its regular ser-
vices, the library will present Lit-
erary Journeys on Thursday
evenings from 7:30 to 9 p.m. This
popular program is a discussion
group for those who are inter-
ested in sharing ideas and
themes of short story literature
by Jewish authors. Future dis-
cussions will include: Oct. 26,
"First Kiss" by S.Y. Agnon; Nov.
9, "I Stand Here Ironing" by
Hillie Olsen; Nov. 30, "Bridging'
by Max Apple; Dec. 7, "The
Name" by Aharon Megged; Dec.
14, "A Subject of Childhood" by
Grace Paley. The program will
be free of charge and refresh-
ments will be provided.

Jewish Family Service and the
Jewish Community Center will
offer a creative after-school pro-
gram for children with attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
(ADHD).
' "Stretch and Reach" will offer
children supervised recreation
and socialization groups. Pro-
gramming is designed to allow
children with ADHD to stretch
and reach for new goals, to make
new friends, to achieve their full
potential. All programming will
be led by trained JCC recreation
and JFS social work staff.
Registration is now being ac-
cepted for the fall. Call Judith
Stevenson at Jewish Family Ser-
vice, (810) 559-1500, for infor-
mation. There is a subsidized fee
for thisprogram.
"Stretch and Reach" is a re-
cipient of the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit's Max M.
Fisher Jewish Community Foun-
dation.

Publicity Deadlines

The normal deadline for local news and
publicity items is noon Thursday, eight
days prior to issue date. The deadline for
birth announcements is 10 a.m. Monday,
four days prior to issue date; out-of-town
obituaries, I 0 a.m. Tuesday, three days
prior to issue date.
