Emma Schaver has created the
Morris L. and Emma Schaver
Chair in the Yiddish Language
at Bar-Ilan University. Mrs.
Schaver, with her late husband
Morris, has been active in sup-
port of Bar-Ilan University from
its conception. Mrs. Schaver be-
gan active support of Bar-Ilan's
nascent Yiddish program and
was instrumental in both initi-
ating and conceptualizing Bar-
Ilan's granting of master's and
doctorate degrees in Yiddish
language and literature.
The establishment of the
Schaver Chair will maintain an
incumbent who will work in
teaching, research, publications,
the arts, and the training of un-
dergraduate and graduate stu-
dents.

Bais Chabad
Lectures Set
Rabbi Elimelech Silberberg of
Bais Chabad Torah Center will
deliver a lecture on the weekly
Torah portion which will
include a discussion on Rosh
Hashanah on Monday, Sept.
11, 8:15 p.m. at the Torah Cen-
ter.
The Torah Center invites the
public to a High Holiday lecture
which will be given by Rabbi Sil-
berberg on Thursday, Sept. 14,
12:30 p.m. at the law offices of
Mr. Arthur Liss, 1400 N. Wood-
ward, Bloomfield Hills. The lec-
ture includes a lunch. For

The Shabbos women's study
group will take place at the home
of Andrea Stawis, 6753 Cotton=

Ellen Goldman is the new exec-
utive director of Yad Ezra, the
only kosher food pantry in Michi-
gan.
Ms. Goldman has worked as
the administrator of Temple
Emanu-El in Oak Park. She be-
came a senior member of the Na-
tional Association of Temple
Administrators. In 1992, Ms.
Goldman moved to Westport,
Conn. for the position of Admin-
istrator for Temple Israel, a 900
family congregation.
