Oak Park, died April 26. Mrs.
Kardener was the beloved wife
of the late Israel Kardener. She
is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Dr. Sheldon
and Monica of Santa Monica,
Calla.; daughter and son-in-
law, Margie and Phillip Miller
of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sis-
ters and brother-in-law, Pearl
and Abe Oslik of Southfield, Es-
ther Kaell of Ontario, Fay Za-
lenko of Santa Monica, Calif ;
six grandchildren; 12 great-
grandchildren. Contributions
may be directed to the Jewish
National Fund. Interment at
Hebrew Memorial Park Ceme-

JOSEPH LEVINE, 86, of
Bloomfield Hills, died April 29.
Mr. Levine was a residential
builder and a member of Con-
gregation Beth Achim. He is
survived by his wife, Bertha;
son and daughter-in-law, Dr.
Robert and Faye of Bloomfield
Hills; daughter and son-in-law,
Marlene and Jack Vanwinger-
den of Mt. Clemens; grandchil-
dren, Aviva and Rachel Levine,
Laurie and Aaron Meadows;
brother and sister-in-law, Har-
ry and Yetta of Southfield; sis-
ters, Florence Paul of South-
field, Evelyn Gold of Boca
Raton, Fla., sisters-in-law,
Ethel Levant, Ethel Levine;
brothers-in-law and sister-in-
law, Alfred Berkowitz, Julius
and Pauline Berkowitz. Inter-

MANNY JAMES POLAK, 73,
of Stuart, Fla., died April 27.
Mr. Polak was a marketing con-
sultant. He was in theist In-
fantry Division in World War II
and was stationed in Europe.
He was the beloved husband
of the late Helene Polak. Mr.
Polak is survived by his sons,
Keith and Kenneth of Las Ve-
gas. Interment at Beth El
Memorial Park Cemetery.

son-in-law, Jolie Levine-War-
pool and Jim Warpool; grand-
son, Jason Levin; brother, Irv-

JEROME DALLAS WINE-
GARDEN SR., 81, died May 2.
Mr. Winegarden's family was
one of Flint's pioneer Jewish
families. Mr. Winegarden grad-
uated from the University of
Michigan and Harvard Law
School. He served as Chief As-
sistant Prosecuting Attorney of
Genesee County until World
War II. In the war, he served as
a captain in the Army Air
Force. In 1960, he went into the
practice of law and became a
well known criminal lawyer. He
was a member of the Atlas Val-
ley Golf and Country Club.
He is survived by his wife,
Dorothy Dinner Winegarden;
daughter, Ellyn Winegarden-
Sudow; son and daughter-in-
law, Jerome Dallas Jr. and
Ronnie; brothers and sisters-in-
law, Leslie Robert and Gloria,
Meyer Jacob and Lorraine; five
grandchildren. Interment at
Clover Hill Park Cemetery in
Royal Oak. Contributions may
be made to the Cystic Fibrosis
Foundation or the Flint Class-
room Support Fund. Arange-
ments by the Sharp Funeral
Home, Flint.

FANNY H. WIRTZ, 103, of
Southfield, died April 29. Mrs.
Wirtz was the beloved wife of
the late Frank Wirtz. She is
survived by nieces and
nephews. Interment at
