Arthur Granoff

Arthur Granoff, 91, of Southfield, died May 1.
For 57 years, Mr. Granoff was the founder, own-
er and CEO of Parts and Equipment Corpora-
tion: a distributor of automotive industrial and
fleet aftermarket parts with sev-
en stores based in River Rouge.
Mr. Granoff came to the
United States alone at the age
of 19. He was completely self
taught and read the dictionary
on a daily basis to learn 10 new
words each day. Mr. Granoff
was a member of the Auto
Parts Association and the
Michigan Truckers Association.
A devout naturalist, Mr.
Granoff was committed to the
environment and health ethics.
He earned his pilot's license
and flew until he crashed his Arthur Granoff
plane in a corn field, never to fly
solo again. At the age of 60, Mr.
Granoff became a classical guitar enthusiast,
was a gourmet cook, enjoyed skeet shooting,

BETTY BAYER, 85, of South-
field, died April 27. Mrs. Bayer
was a member of the Jewish
Community Center Wood
Carvers, Temple Beth El Sis-
terhood and was an enthusias-
tic volunteer for many commu-
nity causes. She was the
beloved wife of the late Aaron
Bayer. Mrs. Bayer is survived
by her daughters and sons-in-
law, Deanna and Barry Law-
ton of West Bloomfield, Laurel
and Stephen Epstein of West
Bloomfield; sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Walter and Priscil-
la Bayer of Troy, Arthur and
Joyce Bayer of Farmington
Hills and Yogi and Cynthia
Bayer of Chelsea, Ala.; grand-
children, Mark and Steven
Lawton, Brian and Scott Ep-
stein, Matthew, Peggy and
Philip Bayer and Maureen and

Mr. Granoff was the beloved husband of the
late Naomi Granoff. He is survived by his
daughters and sons-in-law, Maida Louis and
George Hopper of Southfield,

MARCUS BROUDY, 93, of
West Bloomfield, died April 26.
He is survived by his wife,
Gertrude; son and daughter-in-
law, Joel and Shirlee of West
Bloomfield. Contributions may

interment were held at Mache-
pelah Cemetery in Ferndale.

DR. CRAIG D. BROD, 37, of
Farmington Hills, died May 1.
Dr. Brod was a podiatrist. He
graduated in 1985 from the
Chicago School of Podiatric
Medicine (now known as the
Scholls School of Podiatric Med-
icine) and was a undergraduate
at Wayne State University. Dr.
Brod was very generous to the
underpriviledged, gave sub-
stantially to Mother Wattles
and was involved with senior
citizens.
Dr. Brod is survived by his
parents, Herbert and Barbara
of West Bloomfield; sister and
brother-in-law, Leslie and
Ronald Miller of West Bloom-
field; brother and sister-in-law,
Lawrence and Karyn of Ann
Arbor. Interment at Beth El
Memorial Park. Memorial con-

WALLACE CHERNEY, 71, of
Las Vegas, Nev., and South-
field, died April 27. Mr. Cher-
ney was an optometrist. He was
the dear brother of the late
Allen Cherney. Mr. Cherney is
survived by his wife, Lucille;
daughter, Pain of Delrey, Calif.;
son, Dr. Kenneth and Sarah of
Northfield, Minn.; grandchil-
dren, Peter and Joey Cherney;
