Sophia Hoffman

Sophia Reder Hoffman, 85, of
Huntington Woods, died Dec.
30. Mrs. Hoffman was a restau-
rant clerk, active at JCC for 28
years and a member of Pioneer
Women. She also was past pres-
ident and co-founder of Social
Service Club whose primary
work was to adopt orphans
from Israel, raise money for Is-
rael and the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign. She received numerous
awards from the Social Service
Club for service and leadership;
she also received a certificate of
appreciation from the Allied
Jewish Campaign. She gave
time and energy to Golden
Friendship Circle Club and the
JCC; through her efforts the
Golden Friendship Circle grew
to a membership of 125 and was
made into a family club which
provided a place for senior cit-
izens to gather.
Mrs. Hoffman was the
beloved wife of the late Fritz
Hoffman and the late Max Red-
er. She is survived by her son
and daughter-in-law, Samuel

JOSEPH AARON, 78, of Tuc-
son, Ariz. formerly of Detroit, died
Dec. 15. Mr. Aaron was an exec-
utive for National Dry Goods. He
is survived by his wife, Doris;
daughter and son-in-law, Ilene
and Robert Segar of Flint; sons
and daughter-in-law, Larry and
Susan of Knoxville, Tenn., Bruce
