Based on economic indicators
from the first six to nine months
of this year, the Israeli Gross Do-
mestic Product (GDP) is expect-
ed to grow 6.7 percent this year,
the Central Bureau of Statistics
reported.
Should economic growth match
expectations, the economy will
have expanded at nearly twice
the rate of last year, when the

GDP increased only 3.4 percent.
According to Treasury eco-
nomic adviser Tsipi Gal-Yam, the
rapid economic expansion has
been characterized by a sharp de-
cline in unemployment, which is
expected to hover between 7.5
and 8 percvt compared with 10
percent last year, and by signifi-
cant iitcmases in investment and
consumption.
