basketball and soccer standout
at Farmington Harrison High
School, has decided to attend the
University of Michigan, where
he'll be in the Honors College. Mr.
Weiss was a 3.95 grade-point-av-
erage student in high school.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder
earned honorable mention all-di-
vision honors in the Western
Lakes Activities Association fol-
lowing his senior basketball sea-
son.
In 20 games, he averaged 12
points and 8.4 rebounds and he
had 23 assists, 19 steals and 19
blocked shots. Mr. Weiss made
36 percent of his 3-point shots
and he was a 51 percent marks-
man from the field.
His top performances includ-
ed 22 points and nine rebounds
against Waterford Mott, 21
points and 12 rebounds against
Livonia Franklin, 18 points and
10 rebounds against Walled Lake
Central, 16 points and 12 re-
bounds against Westland John
Glenn and 13 points, 11 rebounds
and four blocks against Walled
Lake Western.
Following his junior season,
Mr. Weiss was named Harrison's
most improved player.
Mr. Weiss also had an out-
standing senior soccer season. He
was named the all-division
sweeper and he was his team's
co-captain and MVP.

City Of Hope

The Sophie and Harry Hoffman
fund-raising chapter for the City
of Hope National Medical Center
will hold its fifth annual golf out-
ing Aug. 5 at Bay Pointe Golf
Club in West Bloomfield.
Cost is $175, or $60 for the
banquet awards dinner only. The
outing also includes an 18-hole
round with the use of a golf cart,
continental breakfast, buffet lun-
cheon, open bar, contests and
prizes and the availability of the
clubhouse facilities and driving

nior this fall, also was a Class B-
CD regional diving champion
(401 points) and he finished 12th

ELYSE SKLAR of Farming-
ton Hills earned a share of the
Pony girls division short-track
speedskating state championship
in the Michigan Speedskating As-
sociation meet at Berkley Ice Are-
na. The defending Pony state
champion won two of her races
and finished second in two oth-
ers at Berkley. A member of the
Berkley-based Wolverine Sports
Club, Elyse attends religious
school at Temple Israel.

CRAIG STOLLER of Detroit
Country Day earned berths on
the Class B-C-D All-State hock-
ey team selected by coaches. Both
were seniors. Mr. Jackson was a
forward and Mr. Stoller was a
goalie. Mr. Jackson, a 4.0 grade-
point-average student, also was
named to the Senior All-Acade-
mic squad.
JEREMY HERTZA of West
Bloomfield High School will go
down in history as the final boys
diving champion in the Metro-
Suburban Activities Association
(MSAA). He won the MSAA title
by scoring 410 points at the
league meet. The eight MSAA
