became increasingly concerned.
She called Mr. Craig to test
four monitors, confident that
the newer models would easily
pass inspection.
"They all flunked. Miser-
ably," she says. Several regis-
tered at more than twice the
acceptable level.
"My computers are how I op-
erate," she explains. Magna-
gard's on-site testing
capabilities were the only op-
tion she considered. Sending
them out to a testing facility
was out of the question.
Like Ms. Miller, Ms. Edel-
stein, a computer programmer,
spends her days in front of a
computer screen. She can re-
late to the accountant's concern,
but points out that it is much
easier for a small operator to
take extra precautions than a
large corporation like the one
she works for.
"I can't see them spending
that kind of money," Ms. Edel-
stein says. "It's really frus-
trating . . . I bet I'm at risk." ❑

Swiss Explore
Ventures

Industrial cooperation with
Switzerland is getting a push
this month with the visit of a
group of businessmen from the
Swiss Association of Machin-
ery Manufacturers.
The Swiss group, represent-
ing the association and their
own companies — including
ABB, Alcatel, Benninger and
Ascom — met with officials of
more than dozen companies in-
terested in joint ventures, pri-
marily in the high-tech area.
The group also met with In-
dustry and Trade Minister
Micha Harish and with Chief
Scientist Yehoshua Gleickman.
Among the companies the
Swiss representatives visited
were Tadiran, Scitex, Elbit,
Efrat Future Technologies, El-
Op, Israel Aircraft Industries,
Rafael and Ormat. ❑
