Temple Israel's concluding I
concert in this season's
Schmier Chapel Chamber
Series is scheduled for 7:30
p.m. May 23. Performing the
music of Debussy, Schumann
j and Brahms will be members
of the Raimi family with Fred
Raimi, cellist; Max Raimi and
Diane Mues playing the
viola; and Jane Hawkins,
pianist.
Fred Raimi attended Cass
Thchnical High School, the
Johns Hopkins University
and received degrees from the
Juilliard School and SUNY-
Binghamton; he studied cello
with Paul Olefsky and
Maurice Eisenberg.
Violist Max Raimi is also a
native Detroiter; he attended
the University of Michigan
and Juilliard and studied
with Ara Zerounian and
Nathan Gordon and then
joined the Chicago Symphony
in 1984. His music has been
performed by such ensembles
as the St. Louis and Syracuse
symphonies.
Diane Mues took up the
viola when she was 9 and
studied with Ruth Ray (a
lifelong friend of Jascha
Heifetz and student of
Leopold Auer); she attended
DePaul University where she
was taught by Milton Preves.
She was principal violist of
the Chicago Civic Orchestra
and participated in the
Berkshire Music Center at
Tanglewood.
Jane Hawkins, pianist,
graduated with distinction
from the Royal Academy in
London where she studied
both cello and piano. Sincere
coming to the United States
she has concertized with both
singers and instrumentalists.
Currently on the faculty of
Duke University, she per-
forms with other faculty
members and directs the
chamber music program.

JNF Brunch
For Honorees
Boris and Rena 'Ibbes will be
honored for their devotion to
B'nai Moshe 10:30 a.m. June
6 at the synagogue. A brunch
will be served.
A program will be held
which will include Cantor
Klein's tribute in song, a
video presentation on Israel
and its forests, and tributes.
The cost for the brunch and
program will include a tree
purchase.
