Young Adult Division
Nominates Kanter
Elizabeth R. Kanter has been
nominated as president of the
Jewish Federation of Metro-
politan Detroit Young Adult
Division, whose 55th annual
meeting will take place 6:30
p.m. June 15 at the Detroit
Institute of Arts.
The gathering will include
the election and installation
of officers and board members
and an update on YAD by
outgoing president, Hannan
Lis. In addition, the evening's
program will feature a
display of "The Passionate
Observer: Photographs by
Carl Van Vechten," an exhibi-
tion of 75 vintage photos
drawn from the Hallmark
Photographic Collection, a
project of Hallmark Cards Inc.
Mr. Lis has been nominated
as chairman of the executive
committee. Suzan F. Curhan,
Beth Cohen Radner and Jef-
frey S. Sternberg are
nominees for vice president.
Mitchell A. Mondry has been
nominated for the post of
secretary.

Synagogues Planning
For JTS Shabbat
Area Conservative congrega-
tions will dedicate Shabbat
services May 15 and May 29
to the importance of the
Jewish Theological Seminary.
During services, each con-
gregation will acknowledge
its members who will be
honored by the Seminary at
the 1993 annual Jewish
Theological Seminary dinner
June 1 at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek.
This year's honorees in-
clude William and Susan
Graham of Adat Shalom
Synagogue; Renee and
Richard Gunsberg of Con-
gregation B'nai Moshe;
Loraine and Joel Shapiro of
Congregation Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses and Max M.
Shaye of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. Congregation
Beth Shalom will honor
Howard and Susan Tapper on
May 29 during Shabbat
services.
Each synagogue will pre-
sent their honorees with the
Second Century Award.
Mrs. Shoshana Cardin, a
Jewish communal leader and
Seminary board member, will
be the speaker at the dinner.
