DOROTHY NUDELL
writes .. . "Edith Allen
recently entertained for
her friends here at her
Southfield apartment. But
it was more than just a
hello party. With the help
of Abe Moses, Edith took
the time to call members of
the former social club, The
Omega Socials.
"It had started back in
1.928 when friends were
campers at Fresh Air
Camp, then located near
Brighton on Blaine Lake.
Originators were Abe
Moses and the late Harry
Thay.
"When summer camping
season was over, the group
of boy and girl teen-agers
(14 to 16) met at the "Y",
Young Women's Hebrew
Association on Rowena
Ave. On the same street
was the Jewish Orphan
Home where there were six
girls and four boys of that
age group who attended
camp and became members
of the "Y" in Detroit
"Miss Hillel was the
social director and the late
Mother Klein was in
charge of social entertain-
ment at the home, seeking
the talents of many like
young Dorothy Kroll (in
later years married to the
late Hy Nudell) to sing and
dance periodically there
and also at camp. The
counselors then were Max
Steioner, the late Earl
Levine, Hy Seligson and
the late Hy Kramer.
"The Omega members
were involved in various
activities, socials, athlet-
ics, dramatics and chari-
ties. Many of its former
members live in different
parts of the country, like
Sylvia and Dave Sussex in
California.
"The members that
Edith Allen and Abe Moses
were able to contact and
came were Sophie Garber,
Alex Nemoff, Obbie
Edelheit, Jack and Rose
Rubin, Bertha and Ben
Wasserman, Betty
Mittleman, Frank and Ann
Berman, Gertrude Stark,
Sally Kahn, Dorothy
(Kroll) Nudell and guest,
daughter Nancy Saltsman.
"Those unable to attend
were Sylvia and Dave
Sussex, Dr. Lou and Anne
Berent, Nathalie and Louis
Citron, Lenore and Dave
Shapiro, Lottie and Harry
Koltonow, Anne Feldman,
wife of the late Joe
Feldman, and Ann Jacobs,
wife of the late Sam
Jacobs.
"There was much remi-
niscing. We all sang and
laughed as Abe Moses was
busy taking movies of
those present."

A wonderful Feiffer comedy with a
generous touch of his ascerbic humor ..
poking at contemporary family currents .. .
.though the joke may be closer to home
than any of us care to admit.
