HE FINALLY had people
gawking at his "towering"
over someone when Dave
Hermelin walked into the
Washington pre-inaugural
I" breakfast by Wayne County
Executive Ed McNamara and
wife Lucille.
One arm was around wife
Doreen . . . and the other on
the waist of little 4'7" (or less)
Dr. Ruth Westheimer . . .
Dave actually had to reach
down for sexologist Dr. Ruth's
o- torso
. . . She regaled folks
about how wonderful Presi
dent Bill Clinton will be for
the America she loves so
much . . . Dr. Ruth was a
former German concentration
camp and Holocaust victim.

McConkey . . . When sending
names to the column, please
print them . . . Winter Prawn

February at Lido On The
"I Lake, St. Clair Shores' only

restaurant and lounge, owned
by Joe Vicari, bossman at the
highly-acclaimed Andiamo

Mile.
- There's a reason for the big
chest and swelled head of
Marvin Yagoda . . . The food

o

service at his Marvin's
Marvelous Museum on Or-
chard Lake Road was recent-
ly given a whopping 100 per-
cent by the Oakland County
Health Dept. . . . Inspector
says it was only the second
100 percent given in his four
years with the OCHD.
CONGRATS . . . to sister,
Belle Weingarden . . . on her
birthday.
SEEMS LIKE every time I
go out of town it's the same
old thing . . . an even greater
appreciation of the
delicatessens in Detroit .. .
The latest was Florida for fur-
ther conviction that nowhere
does there seem to be better
delis than hereabouts.
Speaking of delicatessens' in
Florida, Detroit Deli in Pom-
pano is no more . . . closed
after two years by former
localite Harvey Bloom who is
now a counterman at Pom-
pano's Brother's-Deli . . . His
son and daughter-in-law,
Robert and Dawn Bloom, own
City Deli in Plantation Mall

Bloom's Deli at Pembrooke
Pines Mall also in Plantation

. . . Harvey's wife, Karen,
helps out at both places.
Detroiters are all over
Florida . . . Ilene and Richard
Karson, Sid and Rose
Neuman, Dave Hermelin,

Foreman, Shirley and Marvin
Raskin, Connie and Bill Klin-
sky, Lorraine and Sol Dovitz,
Sarah and Iry Pitt, Irene and
Nate Light, Shirley Stein,
Lorraine and Marty Blanck
. . . and so many others .. .
Difficult not bumping into
people from here who smile as
they ask, "Did you see the
weather report back home?"

correspondent there, says that
the first meeting of the
recently formed Detroit Club
will be Feb. 14 . . . Rob Gifford
is the new executive director
of Michigan Restaurant
Association, replacing Mike
Newman.
Remember the attempt a
few years back by Rosalie and
Sam Lieberman to open their
Rosebud Disco in Southfield's
American Motors Building
. . . It was turned down by the
City Council . . . but today
would probably be a big thing
. . . The disco scene is hot. ❑
