Amazing Experience

This summer I spent two months
in Israel on Young Judea's
Machon In Israel program.
Through this program I not only
learned about the Holy Land,
but I experienced it. From rap-
peling off the Ramon Crater to
walking through the streets of
Jaffa, I really got to see the
country firsthand. I also met
many of the best friends I could
ever make from around the
U.S.A. and had more fun than

Israel Summer Seminar (ISS)
was a 5 1/2 week program in
which we toured almost all of
Israel. Going with NCSY
(National Conference of
Synagogue Youth) was a really
good experience. I was able to
view Israel from a religious
point of view while meeting
Jewish teens from all over the
world. We did so much and saw
so many things that it is hard to
pick out one special something.
There was always plenty of
time to shop, shmooze with other
teen tourists and enjoy being

I've ever had. The staff were the
most wonderful people and truly
added to my experience. It's very
had to describe the amazing feel-
ing I got from my trip, but it
really was the best two months
of my life.

part of a group of wonderful
teens. Some of the many experi-
ences and events were dining in
a Bedouin tent, mucking about
in mud caves, reaching the top of
Masada and going to the Kotel
(the Western Wall) to name just
a few.
Through these experiences,
everyone's ties to Israel became
stronger and deeper as we saw,
felt and touched the things that
we had been learning about for
so many years.

This past summer I spent 5 1/2
weeks hiking through Israel
with a national organization
called NFTY (National Fed-
eration Temple Youth). NFTY
has chapters throughout the
U.S. We toured all over the
country, visiting Jerusalem, Tel
Aviv, Eilat, Haifa and many
other cities. Visiting all these
places was memorable. But my
fondest memories were visiting
and praying at the Wall, snor-
keling in the beautiful coral sea
in Eilat, and being able to climb
Masada to see the sunrise.

field, NFTY
