Adat Shalom Weekend
Features Tutnauers
Adat Shalom Synagogue
will host a Selichot weekend
of programming featuring
Rabbi Moshe and Margery
Tutnauer.
Rabbi Tutnauer will deliver
the Shabbat morning sermon
Sept. 19 on "To Kiev and
Back Via Aeroflot — The Con-
servative Movement in
Russia."
There will be a coffee recep-
tion 9:30 p.m. Sept. 19. At 10
p.m. Rabbi Tutnauer will
speak on "David and
Bathsheba — A Yom Kippur
Story." Traditional Selichot
services will take place at 11
p.m., led by clergy and choir.
The evening is coordinated by
the synagogue's Adult Study
Commission and Ritual
Committee.
Margery Tutnauer will pre-
sent a Brunch & Learn
discussion Sept. 20 titled
"Pesach 1992 — Making Four
Seders in Russia." That event
is co-sponsored by the Adat
Shalom Sisterhood, Bar/Bat
Mitzvah Family Club and
Adult Study Commission.

Margery Tutnauer, as
former Detroiter, teaches
children with learning"
disabilities in Israel. Last
year the Tutnauers spent
nine weeks in Moscow, where
Moshe Tutnauer was rabbi of
the Hineni Congregation.
Duringthat time they visited
and taught Judaism in cities
throughout the former Soviet
Union.
All Selichot weekend pro-
grams are open to the com-
munity at no charge.

Grosse Pointe Holds
Holiday Services
The Grosse Pointe Jewish
Council Religious Committee
will host High Holiday ser-
vices this year in Grosse
Pointe. Services for Rosh
Hashanah will be held 8 p.m.
Sept. 27; 10 a.m. Sept. 28; and
Children's Services will be
2-2:30 p.m. Sept. 28. Kol
Nidre services will be 8 p.m.
Oct. 6.
The schedule of services for
Oct. 7 is: 10 a.m.; children's
services, 2-2:30 p.m.; afte-
noon/memorial/concluding
services 3 p.m. All services
will take place at the Grosse
Pointe Unitarian Church
located at 17150 Maumee in
Grosse Pointe and are open to
the public.
Donations are not required
although they would be ap-
preciated. The New Union
Prayer Book Gates of Repen-
tance will be used.
Officiating will be Rabbi
Connie Golden from Mem-
phis, Tenn. Rabbi Golden is
the rabbinic chaplain at the
VA Hospital in Memphis. For
the past five years she has
served as the rabbi of two con-
gregations, Temple Israel in
Blytheville, Ark., and Temple
Beth Israel in Meridian, Miss.
Prior to those positions she
was the assistant rabbi at
Temple Israel in Memphis.

Holiday Services
The Workmen's Circle will
hold cultural Rosh Hashanah,
and Yom Kippur observances
