Village And Museum
Offering Fall Fun

Special fall events and ex-
hibits at Henry Ford Museum
and Greenfield Village will
highlight the stories of
resourcefulness, innovation
and ingenuity found daily at
the historic complex.
The fall season will open
with antique Fords, Packards
and Hupmobiles at the Old
Car Festival, Sept. 12-13.
Railroad Days will be at the
village, Sept. 26-27.
The season of plenty will
come alive during Fall
Harvest Days, Oct. 2, 3, 4.
Visitors can help the farm-
hands harvest crops from the
garden and shell corn, or
watch a steam-powered
thresher in operation and
draft horses pull the plow.
Demonstrations, hands-on ac-
tivities, games and music
throughout the village re-
create traditional harvest
celebrations.
The village's Martinsville
Cider Mill will run from Sept.
17-Oct. 18.
Inside
Henry
Ford
Museum, "Possible Dreams:
Popular Mechanics and
America's Enthusiasm for
Technology" will explore
20th-century Americans'
fascination with gadgets and
projects.
The Innovation Station will
delight all ages. This interac-
tive learning game will
challenge visitors to develop
problem-solving skills as they
work in teams to direct
brightly colored balls through
a system of interconnecting
tubes and activity stations.
Special observation win-
dows will afford a look at
work-in-progress on Made in
America, a new permanent
exhibition which is to open

"Mysteries of Science," will
be the next program of the se-
cond annual Downtown Far-
mington "Summer Fun
Series."
The 45-minute show,
developed in cooperation with
Dow Chemical Scientists as
part of the company's winn-
ing "Touch Tech" program,
will teach how household
items can be used to perform
mind-boggling science tricks
that appear to be magic. Doug
Scheer, host of the three-year
program, also incorporates
music and comedy.
"Mysteries of Science" will
be performed 10:30 a.m.,
11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m.
The "Summer Fun Series"
is held every Wednesday
throughout the summer. Ac-
tivities are free and take
place under the green-and-
white striped tent in the
Downtown Farmington
Center parking lot on Grand
River, one block east of Farm-
ington Road.
