Service Awards
William M. Davidson has
been named recipient of the
Fred M. Butzel Memorial
Award for Distinguished
Community Service by the
Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit.
The award will be presented
at the Federation annual
meeting Oct. 1 at Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek. Mr.
Davidson is a past president
of Shaarey Zedek.
Past general chairman of
the Allied Jewish Campaign
(1974), Mr. Davidson served
in many Campaign roles and
on the boards of the Jewish
Federation, Sinai Hospital
and Jewish Vocational
Service.
He supports numerous local
communal organizations, in-
cluding Hillel Day School,
where he endowed a wing in
the family name.
Recipient of the Peace
Medal of the State of Israel,
he is a member of the
Presidents Club of State of
Israel Bonds.

The Young Leadership
Awards provide for the
honoree's attendance at the
Los Angeles (JTA) — Iran,
Syria and Libya are amass-
ing large arsenals of
chemical weapons and are
determined to obtain or pro-
duce nuclear arms and the
missiles to deliver them to
distant targets.
These claims are contained
in a report by the Simon
Wiesenthal Center.
The 140-page report,
"Weapons of Mass Destruc-
tion: The Cases of Iran,
Syria and Libya," also
asserts that, in a replay of
the clandestine Iraqi
buildup of unconventional
weapons, the three countries
have been getting much of
their technology and equip-
ment from Western nations.
