Bonds Women's Divi-
sion Golda Meir Club
honored Barbara
Stollman on June 4 with
the 1992 Woman of Valor
Award at the home of
Franka Charlupski. More
than 100 patrons attended
the event for Mrs. Stollman,
a national and local past
president of Women's Divi-
sion.
"She is truly a woman of
valor. It was an easy deci-
sion ," said Meryl
Podolsky, Detroit Women's
Division chairman.
"No woman in this country
is more deserving to receive
this award," said Jerry
Soble, general chairman of
Israel Bonds in Detroit.
Dr. Ruth Gruber, author,
journalist and honorary -na-
tional chairman of the
Woman of Valor campaign,
was the guest speaker. She
spoke about the survival of
the Jewish people. "It
doesn't matter where we are
all living; we are all bond-
ed," said Mrs. Gruber.
Some of the Israel Bond
supporters included:
Rochelle Lieberman, lun-
cheon chairman, Terran
Leemis, Pola Friedman,
Judy Verona, Anne
Silver, Bernice Gershen-
son, Trudy Weiss.
In a separate event on
June 2 at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek, the
Metropolitan Detroit At-
torneys Division of Israel
Bonds honored Dennis Ar-
cher and Judge Trudy
Archer. More than 300
patrons attended the event.
Saul Bluestone and
Sheldon L. Miller were co-
chairmen of the program.
Dr. Yehuda Blum, former
Israeli ambassador to the
United Nations, was the
guest speaker. He is an au-
thority on international law.
The Archers were present-
ed with the State of Israel
Eleanor Roosevelt Human-
ities Award for their con-
tributions to the legal pro-
fession. Some of the notables
in the crowd included:
Debra Ribitwer, Peter
Alter, Avern Cohn, Ira
and Brenda Jaffe, Alan S.
Schwartz, Jeffery Malin,
Bernard Mindell, Brian
Katinsky and David Page.

Mall will sponsor the third
annual clothing drive for
"Zip Up the Homeless."
Customers can trade in their
clean, old jeans (without
holes) for one new pair at
half the retail price on June
19 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
All the jeans collected will
be donated to the homeless
of Oakland County. More
than 400 pairs of jeans were
collected last year.
NA'AMAT EVENTS
The Greater Detroit Council
Na'amat USA will host
many upcoming events, in-
cluding an end of the year
tea on June 18 at the
Na'amat meeting room on
Greenfield in Oak Park with
guest speaker Lynn Wax,
Midwest area coordinator,
and a musical program
featuring Naomi Gurt, a
vocalist, and Joseph Gurt,
accompanist. Other events
include a visit to the Jews of
India with Marlene Bor-
man on June 25, and a visit
to the Jews of China with
Rabbi Lane Steinger.
