Galleries Host
Art Walk
The galleries in downtown
Birmingham, north of Maple
road on Woodward, have form-
ed a new organization, The
North Woodward Galleries,
which will plan simultaneous
openings, lectures and a
series of special events
throughout the year on the
first Thursday evening of
each month. Hours will be ex-
tended on these occasions to
8:30 p.m.
The kickoff event will be a
Dec. 5 Holiday Art Walk com-
plete with white lights, stroll-
ing musicians, street vendors
and horse and buggy
transportation.
Each gallery will host a
booth for one of the following
organizations: the Detroit In-
stitute of Arts, the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra, the
Detroit Zoo, Cranbrook
Museum, Pewabic Pottery,
Michigan Opera Theater,
Detroit Children's Museum,
Children's Opera Theater,
Detroit Focus Gallery, The
Birmingham/Bloomfield Art
Association, Archives of
American Art, Music Hall,
Preservation Wayne and the
Detroit Art Deco Society.

Menorah Lighting
New Orleans Mall, Green-
field Road north of Ten Mile,
will observe Chanukah each
night of the holiday by
lighting the appropriate
candles in a large menorah,
provided by Rabbi Bergstein
of Bais Chabad of Farmington
Hills.
There will be a public
candlelighting ceremony 7:30
p.m. Dec. 7. Oakland County
Commissioners Dennis Aaron
and Lawrence Pernick will be
honored with kindling the
Chanukah lights.
The program will feature
music and choral singing by
Chaim Hebrew School for
New Americans and the
Chabad Hebrew School.

The 90s" starting 8 p.m. Dec.
11. There is a charge for six
one-hour lessons.
