At El Al Airlines
New York — El Al Israel
Airlines has a new check-in
service, Sunday through
Thursday, at New York's La
Guardia Airport. After arriv-
ing on any domestic flight at
La Guardia Airport, travelers
will connect to their El Al
Flight departing from John F.
Kennedy Airport via the
airline's new - La Guardia
check-in counter.
The El Al check-in counter
will be located at American
Airline's La Guardia ter-
minal on the Arrival Level
next to Carousel C. Operation
hours will be six hours prior
to any El Al departure from
JFK Airport. Passengers will
be able to utilize this check-
in service up to 90 minutes
prior to the departure of their
El Al Flight.
Upon arrival at La Guardia
Airport, passengers will clear
El Al's security and check-in,
receiving their seat assign-
ment and boarding card. Lug-
gage will be transferred by El
Al employees to JFK Airport,
free of charge. Travelers can
utilize El Al's convenient
shuttle service (departing
every 90 minutes) from La
Guardia Airport to El Al's
JFK terminal. The last shut-
tle from La Guardia Airport
will be 90 minutes prior to El
Al's last departure of the day.

Air navel To Be
More Direct
Sydney, Australia (JTA) --
Air travel between Israel
and Australia may be a lot i(
faster and more direct.
Kim Beazley, Australia's
minister for transport and
communications, told a
delegation of Australian
Jewish leaders last week
that he supported, in princi-
ple, El Al's application to fly
to Australia.
Depending on the result of
security assessments, finan-
cial arrangements and
bilateral negotiations,
Beazley said, flights could
commence in 1992.
The current flying time to
Israel from Australia is ap-
proximately 36 hours and
involves at least one change
of aircraft. The El Al route
would slash the time by
more than 10 hours.
Representatives of the Ex-
ecutive Council of
Australian Jewry have been
lobbying for El Al to come to
Australia, or Qantas to land
in Israel, for more than a
decade. The Jewish com-
munity has argued, at
meetings with the prime
