Teapot Show

The Ariana Gallery will
hold its annual teapot show
through Oct. 25. The teapots
on exhibit explore a range of
aesthetic and intellectual
perspectives. The appeals
range from whimsical one-
liners to satire.
The works include glass
teapots by Robert Mickelson
and pottery images by
Marilyn Andrews that evoke
community and political
observations. There are also
raku pieces by Berry Berns-
tein and Rick Foris.
Ariana Gallery is located at
386 E. Maple in Birmingham.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-6
p.m. Mon.-Sat.

Berlin Wall
Comes To WSU

The exhibition "The Wall"
will be Oct. 20-30 in the Com-
munity Arts Gallery at
Wayne State University. It
will feature art created by
WSU students and German
photographers.
The Consulate of the
Federal Republic of Germany
and WSU groups combined ef-
forts to construct a wall and
provide East and West Ger-
man sides.
Displayed around the wall,
30 large photographs taken in
Germany document how peo-
ple responded to the wall,
split open by "the hammer of
history" Nov. 9, 1989.
The opening reception for
"The Wall" (die Mauer) ex-
hibition will be 3-5 p.m. Oct.
20 in the gallery.
WSU cosponsors for the
event are the Junior Year in
Freiburg and Munich pro-
grams, department of Ger-
manic and Slavic languages
and the College of Fine, Per-
forming and Communication
Arts.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5
p.m. Monday through Friday,
weekends and evenings by ap-
pointment. For information,
