th

Congregation
Shir Ti van

(Traditional - Reform)
Invites you to attend

plain, to expound, to broaden
our knowledge, and to help
turn the spark into a flame.
But not to be our in-
termediaries or agents.
As we continue our ap-
proach to the High Holy Days
during the month of Elul, we
can use the message of Ki
Tavo to encourage our reflec-
tion upon what we have done
or are doing to deepen our
own learning and to find our
own spark. We can assess our
relationship with our rabbis,
cantors and educators and
begin to transform it from one
of dependence based on "in-
termediaryship" to one of an
independence based on re-
quiring them to "teach us the
ropes."
We can begin to undertake
more responsibilities related
to the community and to our
synagogue. And, in our own
turn, we can help to write the
stones for others to read, in
plain language, so that they,
too, can begin to shoulder the
beautiful responsibilities of
being a Jew. ❑
