FRIDAY, MARCH 22, 1991
C
ongregation Shaarey
Zedek Sisterhood
hosted a kosher
1'Pesach spring luncheon
featuring Elwin Green-
wald , chef and proprietor of
Elwin's Tu-Go in Royal Oak.
About 60 guests attended
the March 11 afternoon
event. Mr. Greenwald dem-
onstrated several gourmet
kosher Passover recipes in-
cluding two-toned beet and
sorrel soup garnished with
yogurt, chilled marinated
halibut with red pepper
mayonnaise, Mediterranean
salad and dark victory dense
chocolate cake with orange
sauce. He offered many cook-
ing tips to the guests while
preparing the dishes.
"This is a refresher course,
getting ready for Pesach
with some new recipes," said
Rusty Rosman , program
chairman for the sisterhood.
After the members dined,
Rabbi Irwin Groner spoke
on kashering the home.
Some of the active sister-
hood members include: Faye
Ullmann, Arlene Karbel,
Joyce Blum, Sandy
Schwartz and Anita
Millman.

the children the Passover
story.
The parents and children
then participated in hands-
on activities about the holi-
day. The children created
their own "Primary
Passover Hands-On Hag-
gadah" by attending diff-
erent work stations. Chil-
dren even got an opportunity
to take a picture of them-
selves as Moses on the road
to freedom and make a spe-
cial Passover pillow for
reclining. When the
workshop was over, the chil-
dren took home their hand-
made Haggadah with ex-
planations about the holi-
day, drawings and puzzles.
