Call The Jewish News 354.5959 72 FRIDAY, MARCH 22, 1991 C ongregation Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood hosted a kosher 1'Pesach spring luncheon featuring Elwin Green- wald , chef and proprietor of Elwin's Tu-Go in Royal Oak. About 60 guests attended the March 11 afternoon event. Mr. Greenwald dem- onstrated several gourmet kosher Passover recipes in- cluding two-toned beet and sorrel soup garnished with yogurt, chilled marinated halibut with red pepper mayonnaise, Mediterranean salad and dark victory dense chocolate cake with orange sauce. He offered many cook- ing tips to the guests while preparing the dishes. "This is a refresher course, getting ready for Pesach with some new recipes," said Rusty Rosman , program chairman for the sisterhood. After the members dined, Rabbi Irwin Groner spoke on kashering the home. Some of the active sister- hood members include: Faye Ullmann, Arlene Karbel, Joyce Blum, Sandy Schwartz and Anita Millman. Mrs. Rosman is busy plan- ning another important sisterhood event with Adat Shalom Sisterhood on May 6: "The Sandwich Genera- tion Parents the Parents." Hands-On Haggadah Temple Israel and Jewish Experiences for Families (J.E.F.F.) held a Passover workshop for second graders and their parents on March 10. Sue Stettner of J.E.F.F. Jamie Learner of Temple Israel. dressed up as Moses to tell the children the Passover story. The parents and children then participated in hands- on activities about the holi- day. The children created their own "Primary Passover Hands-On Hag- gadah" by attending diff- erent work stations. Chil- dren even got an opportunity to take a picture of them- selves as Moses on the road to freedom and make a spe- cial Passover pillow for reclining. When the workshop was over, the chil- dren took home their hand- made Haggadah with ex- planations about the holi- day, drawings and puzzles.
