Andrew Chair Rental, Tents for Events
in Detroit, tents add to the garden
scenery. "Whatever the customer
wants, we can take care of it. We even
did a couple of wintertime weddings.
We put heaters in front and under the
tent. We can make an enclosed room,
just like a building," says Mr. Plaza.
At Andrew Chair Rental, Tents for
events, there are over 40 different
sizes beginning with a small tent 12
x 12 to a large size of 60 x 200, which
could accommodate 600 guests.
Barry Lawton of Barry's Let's Rent
It in West Bloomfield believes the
measurement of eight to 10 sq. ft. per
person as a good rule of thumb to
determine the tent size. A 30 x 40 tent
accommodates 120 seated guests.
Tent prices at Barry's range from $175
to $800. Most of the tents are white,
but Barry's newest line has a large
stripe on the top.
"Not only do we rent tents, but we
rent tables, chairs, tablecloths, dishes
and dance floors. The dance floors
come in sections to adjust to the size
of the party. We could do everything
but the food," says Mr. Lawton.
He even provides a chuppah for a
$100 fee.
Many local florists provide chup-
pahs for garden weddings. Ceil
Stocker, of Berkley Flower Shop, Crea-
tions by Ceil, recommends the
macrame chuppahs. "We have many
different styles. Macrame chuppahs
are beautiful by themselves." says Ms.
Stocker, who just adds flowers at the
base to complete the look.

Reception

After setting a date with the rabbi,
your next step is talking to caterers.
Catering costs depend on such
factors as the menu chosen and the
number of guests which, local cater-
ers say, averages 150 to 200. May,
June and August are busy wedding
months: Saturday night and Sunday
afternoons are the most popular days
and times.
Locally, the most popular type of
reception is a sit-down dinner, espec-
ially for evening weddings. However,
because of space limitations, garden
weddings held at home are often
buffet-style. Local caterers were asked
about garden weddings. Here are
their responses:
