The Ann Arbor Symphony
Orchestra welcomes the
return of Carl St. Clair from
Germany where he recently
conducted the Frankfurt
Radio Symphony. He returns
to conduct Prokofiev's Piano

Concerto in Db Major,

Beethoven's Fantasia for

Piano, Chorus, and Orchestra,
and Durufle's Requiem 8 p.m.
Feb. 9 in Hill Auditiroum.
Pianist James Tocco will
join Carl St. Clair and the
AASO for this concert. Mr.
Tocco will perform Prokofiev's
First Piano Concerto which
consists of one short move-
ment with a virtuoso part for
the soloist. Mr. Tocco will also
perform Beethoven's Choral
Fantasy in combination with
the Ann Arbor Cantata
Singers, Bradley Bloom,
music director, and the
University Choral Union,
Thomas Hilbish, interim
conductor.

hold its Winterfest 7 p.m. Jan.
26 at the Southfield Civic
Center Pavilion. There will be
calliope music, mimes and
clowns, clowns, clowns.
Michigan's Don Jones will
take the stage to emcee this
evening as well as perform
feats of illusion. Jonathan
Hagland — another Michigan
native — will entertain with
juggling, fire-eating and
balancing skills.
The Incredible Acrobats of
China put on a show with il-
lusions, balancing and juggl-
ing. And the acrobatic team of
Flash and Crash will perform
high-speed juggling, unicycl-
ing, high-above-your-head
trampoline work, and humor.

The Detroit Symphony Or-

News Young People's Concert
Series will continue with
Hudson Vagabond Puppets
and the Orchestra led by

Russilan and Ludmilla,
The Birds,
Respighi's
Kabalevsky's Overture to
Colas Breugnon, and Peter
Schickele's A Zoo Called
Earth. Performances will take
place 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Jan. 26 at Orchestra Hall.
