CANTOR VIEDER
Even 5-month-old Bran-
don Vieder sported a tux-
edo to honor his grandpa,
Cantor Larry Vieder, who
drew more than 900 friends
to a dinner on his behalf for
30 years of service as the
cantor at Adat Shalom Syn-
agogue.
The entire Vieder family
celebrated the event. Seated
at the head table were the
cantor and his wife, Gitta;
their grandchildren, Jason,
Brian, Ryan, Jeffrey,
Adam, Rachel and
Brandon; and their chil-
dren, Tommy and Debra,
Mark and Debbie and Dr.
Sandy and Carol.
Many out-of-towners, too,
attended the affair. Among

BLANCHARD GALA
It was the happening
place to be. For $99 in sup-
port of Gov. Jim Blanchard's
campaign, about 800 patrons
gathered last week at
Clubland for dancing,
noshes and drinks.
Although the event was
scheduled to end at 9, well
wishers stayed on for hours
after, enjoying the scene.
Among the attendees were

wife, Beverly, and
daughters Eve and Beth ;

Chajes Music Series
Opens New Season
The Julius Chajes Music
Fund Concert Series will pre-
sent the second concert of the
1990-91 Season 3 p.m. Nov. 4
at the Maple-Drake Jewish
Community Center. It will
feature pianist Nina Lelchuk
in a recital of the music of
Scarlatti, Beethoven, Chajes,
Schubert-Liszt and Chopin.
Ms. Lelchuk, a native of
Leningrad, was a recitalist
and soloist with major Soviet
and foreign orchestras bet-
ween 1962 and 1978. She was
on the piano faculty of the
famed Moscow State
Conservatory.
