States, Canada, and Europe.
She presented master classes
and has been on the faculties
of Juilliard, Manhattan
School, Brooklyn Academy,
and Carnegie Mellon, before
joining the University of
Michigan Music School Facul-
ty in 1988.

Friends Of Music
Slate Concerts

The Friends of Music will
present Vladislav Kovalsky,
Wayne State University
department of music, who
will perform in concert at 3
p.m. Nov. 11 in the activity
center of the Edsel and
Eleanor Ford House, Grosse
Pointe.
The pianist will perform
Beethoven's Sonata opus
27 #2 in C minor and
Rachmaninoff compositions
Prelude opus 32 #10 in B
minor, Four Moments Musical
opus 16 and Two Preludes
opus 23. He will also play
Schumann's Carnaval opus 9.
Mr. Kovalsky returned from
concert tours of Japan and
Korea to resume his teaching
duties at WSU. Born in the
Soviet Union, he received his
master's degree at the Len-
ingrad State Conservatory,
where he studies with
Nathan Perelman.
The concert is one of four
planned by the Friends of
Music to display the perform-
ing talents of the WSU music
faculty. Continuing the series
will be Matt Michaels 3 p.m.
Jan. 20 at the Prudential
Town Center in Southfield;
Jan Fulbright and David
Troiano at 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at
the Birmingham Unitarian
Church in Bloomfield Hills;
and the Essex Piano Trio 3
p.m. April 28 at the WSU
Community Arts Auditorium
on the main campus in
Detroit.
There is no admission
charge for the concerts. For
