The Jewish Community
Center of Metropolitan
Detroit is forming a new
music program for pre-school
children using a Kodaly Ear-
ly Music Development
concept.
This program will introduce
children to music through
games, Hebrew folk music
and movement activities. In-
structor Vivian Montgomery,
will explore skills ranging
from a sense of pulse, pitch
and rhythm. to ideas such as
slow/fast, loud/soft, and
high/low. The classes will in-
volve physical activity with
songs and games.
Classes are open to the
public. There is a fee. For in-
formation, call Annette Cha-
jes, 661-1000/x352.
A summer theater class for
young people, grades 7-12, is
starting at the Maple-Drake
building of the Jewish Com-
munity Center June 3. In-
structor Nancy Gurwin will
incorporate all facets of
theatrical technique in this
six-week program. Sessions
will meet at 2 p.m. Sundays.
The public is welcome.

The Midrasha-College of
Jewish Studies, a division of
the Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion, B'nai B'rith Council of
Metropolitan Detroit, the
Jewish Community Council
and the Michigan Board of
Rabbis will present its final
lecture of its Lunch and
Learn Lecture Series on June
14.
Rabbi Norman Roman of
Temple Kol Ami will speak on
Jewish communities behind
the Iron Curtain. Kosher
lunch is at noon followed by
the lecture. It will be held at
the United Hebrew Schools
