To Perform
Music Study Club of
Metropolitan Detroit will pre-
sent two virtuosic young
soloists, Laura Larson and
Kerstin Allvin, who have
s-) merged their talents to per-
form music literature written
for flute and harp, 12:15 p.m.
April 24 at the Birmingham
Temple.
Larson has performed
throughout the United States
and abroad. She is a winner
of the prestigious national
Flute Association Young Ar-
tist Competition.
Allvin is a performer of con-
temporary harp literature
and has been in numerous
recitals, including perfor-
mances at Carnegie Recital
Hall.
Doris Markel is chairman of
the day. There is a nominal

MOT Opens
'Giovanni'
History's most notorious
rake takes center stage with
Michigan Opera Theatre's
production of Don Giovanni, 8
p.m. April 21 with additional
performances on April 25 and
28.
In the title role, bass-
baritone Richard Cowan
returns to the MOT stage.
The settings and costumes
are the creation of English ar-
tist John Pascoe.
Don Giovanni will be under
the baton of Klaus Donath,
who makes his American con-
ducting debut with this pro-
duction. MOT's Don Giovan-
ni launches the 1990 annual
Spring Grand Opera Season
at the Masonic Temple, which
includes Verdi's La Traviata,
May 5-12, and Gounod's
Romeo et Juliette, May 19-26.
